Haircut Battles

Because Mitch and Kaleb abandoned Kayden and me (they went to watch a state basketball game in Richfield that his brother was helping coach), I decided to hang out with Kendall, Carolina, and their chubby baby, Alex. Both Kayden and Alex weigh the same, but Kayden will be 2 in May, and Alex is only 7 months! While they were here I cut Kendall's hair and also Kayden's. As you can see, Kayden definitely needed his hair cut!

I don't know if you know how difficult it is to try to give a hair cut to a toddler. When Kayden just sees the scissors he goes crazy. I try everything--I give him candy, toys, anything but nothing seems to work. I have this problem with Kaleb as well, but now I just tell him that I'm getting the bugs out and he holds very still. I know. . . that's super bad of me, but I just can't seem to get him to be still! When Kaleb was younger, I'd cut his hair while he was sleeping, but Kayden is too much of a light sleeper!

Although they hate getting their hair cut, they recover pretty quickly! If anyone has ideas of how to make this problematic task any easier, let me know!

Oh my gosh--who is that cute little baby next to Kayden in the first picture? No, not the one with the glasses. I'm talking about the one with the possessed look on his face--the one with glowing coals where his eyes should be. Oh, wait that's my Alex. What an adorable child.

Your kids are so afraid of scissors, that I have to wonder whether you've accidentally snipped off a little piece of their ears on accident during prior haircuts. Where else would they get that unearthly fear of scissors? I once cut Alex's finger while clipping his fingernails. It took weeks for him to get over his fear of the clippers after that.

I have the same problem when Chad cuts my boys' hair. It is always a battle at our house. If you get some good ideas, let me know too!!

Hey Ale! This is Katie (Swenson) Larsen! I really have no idea how I found your blog (it was connected through someone who was connected through someone and so on) but you have the CUTEST family! It looks like you are doing great and about the haircuts, I have 2 boys and I just give them all the candy they want, turn a movie on and get the clippers going! They like how it tickles!

You kids are so cute. I haven't seen them forever. I was excited when I saw your name on my blog. I tried to e-mail the other day and it came back - must have changed. Now that I have found you families blog, I can't keep up to what is going on. Your kids are adorable.

I can't believe how big Kaleb is. Doesn't it seem not too long ago when we were in your town home? Okay, well maybe that does seem like more than 2 years ago. :)
Anyway, your boys are darling and I am so glad Mitch commented on our blog. I hope we can keep in better touch!
