Kayden's Birthday

So my family was gone to New York, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, etc (the Church History sites) so it was just us for Kayden's birthday (May 30) and our good friends (the Nielson Family). Kayden is now officially a terrible 2--but has been that way since 9 months. He is plain crazy! We started singing Happy Birthday and he just cried and told us to stop. He doesn't like anyone to sing. It's pretty funny.
I think his favorite gift was the thermos thing that we gave him. You might think that is an odd gift, but Kayden (as you can see from the pictures above) always takes around ours so thought why not give him his own!

So I ran out of wrapping paper, hence the reused girly bag. I don't think Kayden minded though.

The Switch

Sometimes I think I have too much time on my hands. I've always wondered what I would look like with blonde hair and blues eyes and what my mom would look like with dark hair and brown eyes. With Adobe Photoshop one does not have to wonder anymore! The possibilities with that program are endless! So here is the switch, and well . . . It doesn't look good! My mom would kill me if she ever looked at my blog. She looks like a druggy and I look like I've spent too much time in a tanning room. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be changing my hair color anytime soon. I wonder what I would look like if I switched faces with my 16 year old brother! hehehe

Playing Together!?!

What!?! Kaleb & Kayden not watching movies AND playing together! Yes. . . It is true! It's a miracle! I thought I'd hurry and take some pictures before they started fighting. I think these pictures will be nice to have to show them when they are older and fighting that they use to "always" play together! ;)
This took them quite a while to build which is why it is amazing that they never fought. They even put their cars back to back so it completely covered the tracks. Kaleb made me count them--90 cars total! (Most are Mitch's and my little brother's old cars)

Easter

Not the best picture of Kayden or Mitch, but that Bunny Rabbit sure looks cute!

We went to good ol' Roosevelt for Easter and had lots of fun! (Thanks Shan and Dave for letting us come!) We even got to see the Easter Bunny at the grocery store! Unfortunately my kids were super scared of it. . . and I think Mitch was a little scared too. I told him to scoot over closer to the bunny, but I guess he was too shy! :) Kaleb wouldn't get within 20 feet (not kidding).

The weather was really nice there and the kids had fun playing outside--we really haven't gotten out much before that weekend so that's where they wanted to be all the time. Mitch's parents even put on a little Easter Egg Hunt. The kids were really excited about it.

Kaleb had fun hunting with his dad, cousins, and uncle Mike. They especially had fun getting stuck in the mud! While they were hunting, the girls watched a movie. While watching the movie Kayden disappeared--we found him next door on their front porch! Those darn latch door handles (is that what they are called?) Anyway, Kayden can't open normal door knobs.

I didn't take any pictures besides that one--batteries died! So I thought I'd put pictures of Kaleb from a couple of years ago... I can't believe how much he has grown! I don't know what happened to last year's pictures! Anyway, I need to get better with taking pictures, but for now, I'll just relive my past! :)

In the middle picture (above) Kaleb has his hand to his forehead--he is searching for eggs!

Food Fights

There is always a fight when it comes to trying to feed my kids. Feeding the kids breakfast is easy; they both love any food that involves syrup, they both love eggs and they absolutely love "avena." (oatmeal). When it comes to lunch and dinner though, that is a whole different story. Kayden and Kaleb are absolute opposites

Foods that Kaleb loves that Kayden won't eat!:
sandwiches
tortillas and cheese
broccoli
celery
salad
carrots
cauliflower
His favorite meal is:
Chicken and rice!

Foods that Kayden loves that Kaleb won't eat!:
hot dogs
cheddar cheese
string cheese
grape fruit
grapes
tomatoes
french fries
bananas
macaroni (Kaleb hates or loves macaroni,
depends on his mood)
Kayden's favorite food:
Pizza (Kaleb absolutely hates pizza!)
(Kayden at 4 Months)
I always thought it was funny that my little sisters that are identical twins (Alexandra & Cecilia), liked different parts of the egg. One would only eat the white part, and the other would only eat the yolk. It worked out well for them; they'd just swap with each other the parts they didn't like!

I don't know what to do with my kids for lunch. I start by making one thing, but always end up making two different things. Fridays are super easy; we have breakfast for dinner! Too bad they can't have pancakes for every meal! Life would be so much easier!

Self-Soothing Quirks

Thumb sucking is one of the most common self-soothing habits. I did it, my sister did it, and I always expected my kids to do it as well, but this does not seem to interest them. I was surpised to learn what their self-soothing habits were/are and thought I'd share them. . .

Although Kaleb had a few self-soothing habits, one of the things he would always do, especially if he was trying to sleep, is to pull his eyelashes. I wish I had a photo of this, but of course I don't. He has super long eyelashes so this was easy for him. I thought this was really weird until Kayden.
I threw in these pictures so you could see how long Kaleb's eyelashes are. The one below I threw in, well to be honest, more because I think it is so funny! This is Kaleb when he was 4 months old. I kind of surprised him with my new camera with flash!

It is really hard to tell what Kayden is doing in the picture below, but he is doing his self-soothing habit: picking at his belly button! It is not uncommon to find his zip-up pajamas unzipped to right below his belly button.

Because he picks at it so much, a lot of the time his belly button appears to be an outie! So I had an eyelash pulling kid and have a belly picking boy. What do your kids do?
